Toronto, May 9, 2005—moXie PR & Communications has changed its name to Palette Public Relations. The Toronto-based boutique agency announced the new moniker after finding out that another Toronto company had a similar name. Although the other company isn’t in the communications field, partners Martin Waxman and Louise Armstrong felt it was “important to differentiate ourselves as we continue to establish our brand.”

Waxman and Armstrong are quick to point out that the agency still has “moxie” even though the word no longer appears on their business cards: “Our name is the only thing that’s changed,” says Waxman. “We have the same people, the same commitment to top-flight service and the same ability to generate great results for our clients.”

Industry vets Armstrong and Waxman launched the agency in January 2004 after spending three years leading the consumer marketing practice of a Toronto agency, where they managed national accounts for several global clients. In its first 16 months, the company has doubled in size and is working with a range of clients.

Armstrong feels the choice of Palette reflects the company’s creative abilities and entrepreneurial approach: “We believe that effective communications is an art,” she says. “Clients come to us with a vision and we help them translate it into an effective public relations campaign. We add colour and texture to their stories.”

According to the duo, the hardest part of coming up with a new name these days is securing the rights to the all-important dot.com address. “Although word-of-mouth remains important in this business, many people turn to the Internet when they’re searching for agency services,” says Waxman. “You want to make it as easy as possible for people to find you and the most logical place is company name.com.”

Palette Public Relations Inc. is a full-service PR agency with expertise in media relations, product launches, PR writing, communications planning, event management and reputation management. Clients include Procter & Gamble, Camco Appliances, kids + COMPANY and Junior Achievement of Canada.

Waxman and Armstrong regret to inform would-be clients that, as a result of the name change, they will no longer be offering free cans of Moxie Cola. “Handing out the vintage cola helped people remember our name but unfortunately, no one liked it,” says Armstrong. At this point, there are no plans to distribute free artists’ palettes.
